The 2023 Mazda CX-50 will offer the same engine options as the CX-5. Its base 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine produces 187 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque, while the available 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine generates 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. Also, a hybrid powertrain may be offered for the CX-50 at a later date.

Off-road capabilities and rugged styling of the 2023 CX-50

The CX-50 deviates from the CX-5 with its off-road capabilities. Like the CX-5, the CX-50 will have standard all-wheel drive. However, the CX-50 will have higher ground clearance than the CX-5 for handling the rigors of off-road use. Also, the CX-50 will have a drive mode selector feature, with settings for off-road and towing. This is in addition to the Sport mode that’s in the CX-5 and other Mazda models.

Furthermore, the CX-50 has a more rugged design than the CX-5. It has black cladding on the wheel wells, along with bumper trim that looks similar to skid plates. Also, the new crossover SUV offers available all-terrain tires, as well as accessories like hood graphics and a roof rack. Additionally, the CX-5 is available with a stylish Zircon Sand exterior paint color option.
